Explanation of L-PRF
Leukocyte Platelet-rich Fibrin
A recent therapeutic innovation at Enlow & Vance Dental Partners is the use of our patients’ own healing blood cells to enhance the quality, comfort and predictability of any surgical procedure through a process termed L-PRF Technology (Leukocyte Platelet-rich Fibrin).
L-PRF Process
The process involves drawing a patient’s blood in a similar fashion as is used when one has blood drawn for routine blood testing. The blood is collected in tubes and then placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge concentrates the blood cell components into a healing cell-packed clot powerhouse.
L-PRF aids healing after Oral Surgery
The clot formed by the centrifugations process is a highly active biologic concentrate of the patient’s own healing blood cells. This clot acts as a natural super band-aide, helps protect the surgical site and accelerates wound healing. Use of L-PRF decreases healing time while increasing the formation of healthy tissue and diminishes post-operative discomfort.
We are excited to incorporate this advanced technology as part of our treatment strategy aimed at providing our patients the best care.
